This is a superb wide angle Zeiss lens, it is sharp, constrasty, and distortion free. It covers the "Silent" or Full Super-35 Aperture. It was purchased new from Arriflex for $11,900 in 1999 dollars. The front and rear elements are clean and scratch free. Mechanically the focus and aperture rings are smooth and have no backlash. The housing does show some wear marks in the anodizing. This lens had a calibrated infrared witness mark placed on the lens barrel using a Zeiss MTF machine. You will see it in the photos as a piece of red tape placed next to the stock white visible light witness mark. It can be easily removed. Included with the lens is the purpose-built mattebox that screws into the front of the lens housing and holds one 138mm diameter filter. An A&J case is also included. Front and rear lens caps are included. I am the original owner. It is my personal lens and was never in rental house use. Maintained by the techs at Clairmont Camera, Studio City, California.
Front of lens. The glass and coating are clean and scratch free. The engraved nomenclature around the front element was painted black to prevent reflection of the white letters in the back of the front mounted filter and then back through the lens and onto the image. Both the focus and iris have integral drive gears.
