The advantage of the "Four Flat" lighting setup: the car looks excellent throughout the 360 degree move.

There are no "dead spots" where the lighting looks bad.

Front three-quarter

Profile

Blitz Rig, matte pass against front projection screen, as seen through camera viewfinder.

Car has a light coat of liquid wax sprayed on it to "kill" the edge reflections.

The two white circles with crosses are "tracking marks" to allow the post production facility to create a perfect fit between passes if there is any camera / rig / telecine instability. (We have found that most of the instability comes from the telecine, as most post houses do not have a true "fixed pin registered" telecine, but rather a stock telecine that guides and "registers" from the edge of the film. A true pin registered camera, like the Mitchell-Friez, the Arriflex 435, or the Panavision Panaflex do not register using the edge of the film. They register using only the perforations. The edge of the film is not in contact with any side rails in the gate area.)
