Bill Bennett, ASC shot this video of a beautifully restored 1941 PT-17 Stearman biplane, flown by 18 year-old Sammy Mason; owned by his parents, Rowena and Pete Mason.We shot the video with a prototype Arri Alexa M digital cinema camera, and a Fujinon Alura 18-80mm zoom lens, fitted to a Pictorvision Eclipse gyro-stabilized helicopter mount. The A-Star helicopter was flown by Peter McKernan. Abby Sunderland was the First Camera Assistant, and David Arms was the Pictorvision Tech. We shot the piece at Santa Paula Airport, over Lake Casitas, and along the shore of the Pacific Ocean northwest of Oxnard, CA.
